We had our second annual Happy Birthday, Jesus! party last week. We borrowed my mom's set of nativity dress-up clothes from back when my siblings and I were little, and it became a costume party!
Every birthday party needs cupcakes! The part of the nativity cast that felt like posing for the picture.
The utter chaos of re-enacting the nativity story. Really it was so crazy that it could not have been super-impactful. But the kids came to what they knew was a party for Jesus, made ornaments, had yummy food, played with friends, read and acted out the story of His birth, and we sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus before having cupcakes! My bottom line is that even if all they remember is singing "Happy Birthday" and that helps the point of Christmas get stuck in their heads, then the party is a total success.
Three little ones three months or younger! Best audience ever.
Ornaments drying...
My mom threw this picture in the bags of nativity clothes, and my girls found it and passed it around at the party... yup, the same dress-up clothes on their mama 30 years ago!
Happy birthday, Jesus!
