Goodbyes for now

Well, it's official.  The Gillies moved to New Zealand last week, and we spent that last week with them on this side of the pond with some last serious precious family time.  Cade and Abby Jane put out fires on the gator...
 We played with ice...
Joy and Luke proved that they're dangerous riding partners when Joy bailed while Luke was driving at full speed.
We celebrated my fabulous amazing hot husband's birthday.
Now fellas, don't get too jealous, but Betsy gave him a hoozie.  I think it ranks with some of his all-time favorite birthday gifts. Yes, he practiced putting a beer in the built-in coozie.  For what it's worth, you can put your iPod in there too.  But I see some happy fall/winter grilling ahead for Jake in his hoozie.
I made photo books for everyone to record the last three years of cousinhood, and this is how successful Mimi was at looking at hers with all those monkeys running around.
Blythe turned out to be a better driving partner for Luke.
We used up every single kid chair one last night...
and ended this particular season with an all-out throw-down, no holds barred dance party.
The kids danced til they started melting down, so we decided to call it a night for the last time.
Betsy and the boys have now safely arrived in New Zealand, reunited with their precious husband and daddy, and are adjusting to their new life there.

It is so special to have family that you don't just hang with because they're family, but because they're friends. You don't just love them... you like them a lot, too, and you're the better for having spent time with them.  We are so blessed to have all the siblings the Lord gave us, and even as we venture into this new season of having 2/3 of them overseas, we are grateful for the absolutely golden times we have had as we look forward to the incredibly special times we'll have in years to come.
